Hebrew alphabet reference chart
The 22 base consonants of the Hebrew aleph-bet in canonical order, from Aleph (א) to Tav (ת), with each letter's English name, glyph, and common Latin transliteration (e.g. Shin — ש (sh)). Hebrew is written right to left and is unicameral, so there is one glyph per letter. The five final (sofit) forms and the niqqud vowel points are excluded so each entry maps to one glyph.

Learn the Hebrew alphabet (aleph-bet)
Hebrew is written in the aleph-bet, a right-to-left script of 22 base consonants from Aleph (א) to Tav (ת). This page pairs a full reference chart — name, glyph, and Latin romanization — with a self-scoring flashcard quiz so you can drill letter recognition. It is useful for anyone learning to read Hebrew, whether for language study, liturgy, or travel. Letters are shown in their standard isolated form; the five final (sofit) forms and niqqud vowel points are left out so each card is a single glyph.
How the quiz works
Each round shows one Hebrew glyph and four possible names. Pick the name you think matches; the quiz marks it right or wrong, reveals the correct answer with its romanization, and keeps a running score, current streak, and best streak for the session. Press Next letter for a new card or Reset score to start over. Every glyph and answer choice is selected with the Web Crypto API, entirely in your browser.
