BIC / SWIFT Code Validator

Paste a BIC / SWIFT code to check its structure and country code.
Computed locally in your browser against the ISO 9362 structure. This checks format and the country code only — it does not query SWIFT or GLEIF or confirm the BIC belongs to a real, registered institution. Your BIC stays only on this page.

Validate a BIC / SWIFT code

Paste an 8- or 11-character BIC (ISO 9362) to confirm its structure and read off its parts: a four-letter bank code, a two-letter country code matched against a real ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, a two-character location code, and an optional three-character branch code (an absent branch or XXX means the head office). A second location character of 0 marks a test BIC and 1 a passive participant — noted for information only. Surrounding whitespace is ignored. Need to create valid fixtures instead? Try the BIC / SWIFT code generator.
