Armenian alphabet reference chart

All 38 letters of the modern Mesropian Armenian alphabet in traditional order, from Ayb (Ա / ա) through Feh (Ֆ / ֆ), with each letter's traditional name, its uppercase and lowercase glyphs, and its romanization (e.g. Gim — Գ / գ (g)). Armenian is bicameral, so every letter has both a capital and a small form.

Learn the Armenian alphabet

The Armenian alphabet, created by Mesrop Mashtots around 405 AD, has 38 letters in its modern form, from Ayb (Ա / ա) through Feh (Ֆ / ֆ). It is bicameral — every letter has an uppercase and a lowercase form — so this page pairs a full reference chart (traditional name, both glyphs, and romanization) with a self-scoring flashcard quiz to help you drill letter recognition. It is useful for anyone learning to read Armenian, whether for language study, travel, or teaching.

How the quiz works

Each round shows one Armenian letter — its uppercase and lowercase forms — and four possible romanizations. Pick the reading you think matches; the quiz marks it right or wrong, reveals the correct answer with its name, and keeps a running score, current streak, and best streak for the session. Every letter has a unique romanization, so the quiz keys on that reading. Press Next letter for a new card or Reset score to start over. Every glyph and answer choice is selected with the Web Crypto API, entirely in your browser.

When to use it

Use this quiz to memorize the Armenian letters and their sounds, prepare for an Armenian course, review before an exam, or just test yourself. Pair it with the other alphabet charts below to compare writing systems side by side.
